Sweet inlay. Looks like a small but functional work area....

Thanks guys.

Yep, a very small space but it does the job. I'm actually working on two guitars in there at the moment which is a bit of a struggle.

Speaking of struggling, I'm battling with an ageing mac so I have my fingers crossed I can load some more images here....

The flowers are white MOP and the leaves are red abalone. I'm a bit disappointed with the abalone, not as much colour as I had hoped but some pieces have great markings.

I've been very lucky with the weather over the past few months. Wellington is not reknown for its sunny days but we've had our share of late.

I like it - especially the inlays.

So now we've got extra time I'm doing a bit of work on prepping for some better images of the finished product and figuring out how I will go about the video. Until then, here are a few more images of the build in it's final stages.

My customer - my 6YO daughter - is really happy with the result. It's great that she can sit with me now and strum away. We're a long way off "making music" but I'm just happy that she wants to pick it up and make sound!

I think I've achieved my goal of making it soft on little fingers. The combination of silk & steel strings, the short scale and the standard tuning make it very comfortable. I expect it will spend most of it's life in standard tuning to keep the tension low, although initial impression is that it really sings in terz.

Thanks Tony. I was planning a re-topped uke but couldn't figure out how to get all those tops in under the price limit beehive
;)

Here's photographic proof of a happy customer :D

That is really nice, I quite like the Benedittoesque inlays!

Oh no you didn't! laughing6-hehe

It isn't hard to come in under budget when you don't have a cute little redhead as an accessory.

Beautiful job and it looks to be the perfect size for her!

Now this is what it's all about!

My daughter's "Best" friend came over for a play-date the other day and the two of them just sat around the Christmas tree jamming on the guitars. The acoustic is my challenge build and the little pink electric I made for my daughter earlier in the year.

...not quite ready to record just yet but so happy to see them having fun!
